Take a moment.

I am on a roll today with blogs. I hope everyone enjoys them! I will update as I get inspired and today I have had one thought after another and they all tie together. Hang in there as I explain 😀 The title of the blog is “Take a moment.” Take a moment for? is probably what you are thinking. Good, got you thinking. For pics you have to keep reading 🙂 Think about the things you are thankful for or rather should be thankful for. Social media is such a great tool to communicate and get inspired or made to think. One of my very good friends Matt, a former soldier, posted the picture in this blog. I do not know who took it, nor do I know who edited it, I would love to give KUDOS. I have to backtrack a bit. Earlier today I blogged about Saltlick, when my husband, also a former soldier, came home I told him and he said let’s go then. So outside I go and dear Lord it is HOT. Heatindex of 105 and actual temperature of 100 Fahrenheit or 38 Celsius ( for those in the rest of the world :D). I immediately gripe about how much I dislike Texas heat. My husband smiles and carries on with his conversation. We have a great dinner, come home and talk about ideas for my blog. I like to shoot ideas around until I think “YES, this works”. He said well, you know there is this and that, soccer and so on. While he is talking, I check facebook on my phone. I have a bad habit of multitasking. First thing I see is this picture my friend posted.  Now, I did complain about the weather, I complained about the kids, I complained about the phone ringing.. I complained. A LOT. Do I feel bad? Yes. Should I? I really don’t know. I have always been surrounded by military men and women. I know what they sacrifice. I was an army child. I was an army wife. I know what I sacrificed. I know what we all sacrifice.

I know this isn’t my typical post. It is a very important one to me though. Thank a soldier and thank their family. They all make sacrifices. Thank an army wife. They are the most under appreciated miracle workers out there. Don’t wait for memorial day or veterans day. Do it when you see them. They truly under the hard shell appreciate it.

So how do I tie this into my theme? Think about it. Look at this picture. What do you see? How does it make you feel? Or how about this picture of a soldier holding his baby for the first time?

Heart wrenching

I write about photography. I write about the importance to remember. I write about capturing moments. War photography is one of the most intense forms of photography and so very important. Snapshots of your loved ones.. may be the last picture you will have. Social media, the platform for mass sharing. Without it, I would have never seen these pictures, cried with and for them, shared them with you and reflected about it, let alone wrote this blog.

Take a moment, sit down, reflect, thank, be grateful. Write a soldier, they really appreciate even a simple thank you.

Thank you so much! I try to do my best and bring in my personality and still some outside inspiration. I think after class I may keep this one 🙂 I am sure you will have a wonderful blog yourself! I’ll come back and visit later this week.

Good read and so true, I try to thank soldiers everytime I meet one. We had a very interesting encounter with a Marine Chaplain when we were in Quantico for Sara’s ex-boyfriends graduation from OCS. I do believe his words of wisdom helped Sara make some tough decisions. He was very honest with her and I sometimes believe it was divine intervention. I am glad you pointed me to your blog. Also, if it weren’t for social media I would not have “friend” like you!

Nancy, yes! Thank goodness for social media! You crack me up, I love talking to you! Thanks for sharing a personal experience with me on my blog, I really appreciate it! I hope you keep coming back for more, at the very least it’s some entertainment for the nights Sarah has to work! You can always recommend me 😉

This is truly inspiring Deanna, I like your husband am prior military and spent 10 years serving. Not all was bad and to be honest with you most of my time was pretty good. My last rotation in the Army was in Kuwait on a peaceful mission. When you were talking about the heat, I can still remember be fully dressed in our BDU’s and gear all day in heat way over 100 degrees( 125 degrees was recorded on many occasions). There were many instances when I was changing my shirt 5 to 6 times daily, I was constantly washing clothes!! Now a civilian I think our men and women in the armed forces are under appreciated! I think instead of paying a football, baseball, and basketball player millions of dollars why can’t be do that for our service men who risk their lives so that we can live in a free country! That is my opinion and when and if they do start paying our soldiers millions for their service then I might have to re-enlist!! LOL. Thanks for your thoughts and thank you to your husband!! God Bless America

I agree! Military is way underpaid! Entertainment makes millions, but men and women risking their lives so you can watch it..barely make it. I saw a picture on FB, it showed a garage door spray painted with ” foreclosed 3 tours in iraq but no bailout money for me”. Made my heart ache.. Thank you Miguel for the 10 years!!! Sacrifice appreciated.. *hug*
